Artifacts

Reflect
The artifacts, Analysis of ESL Writing Sample and Learning Center Lesson Plan, are examples of Standard 7. Both artifacts demonstrate my ability to create and plan instruction based on content area while meeting specific state standards. For this particular lesson, I found the state standards that needed to be learned and created a center learning activity that the student can do independently. In centers-based learning students are intrinsically motivated to complete the task because of the confidence and a sense of achievement they come away with. In Learning Centers Lesson, I also provided students with a choice of activities so that the student can take ownership of his/her learning. The Analysis of ESL Writing Sample demonstrates that I recognize the needs of individual students and can plan instruction accordingly.

Project
The artifacts, Analysis of ESL Writing Sample and Learning Center Lesson Plan, demonstrate who I am becoming as a teacher by exemplifying my chosen methods for instructing. I feel that I am improving in my discernment in planning and creating appropriate instruction according to the needs of the students while measuring up to state standards. I believe that these artifacts reflect both my planning abilities and, in the case of the writing analysis, my ability to observe a student and adapt lessons for individual needs. The artifacts are examples lesson planning and accommodation skills that I will be able to apply to my classroom in the future.
